What kind of service experience have you had in the past?

I've served as a volunteer for several organizations and causes in the past few years. Most of my volunteer hours have been spent at Winston Salem Theatre Alliance, helping them raise money to renovate their theatre, and then helping with the actual renovation. I also sometimes volunteer with Anthony's Plot, when they serve their weekly meal.

How have you been involved in community service/social justice issues while in seminary?

Since coming to divinity school, I have become very much invested in social justice issues pertaining to LGBTQ+ lived experiences, as well as racial justice movements like Black Lives Matter.

What type of "ministry" do you see yourself doing?

I see myself working at the intersections of gender, sexuality, queerness, and faith, in higher education or grassroots community organizing.

What topics would you be open to sharing about with groups?

I love speaking to groups about envisioning trans and (more broadly) LGBTQ+ inclusive worship spaces.

What were your favorite courses in undergrad? Seminary?

Religion & Science, Theologians Under Hitler, Readings in Theological Anthropology. These courses all challenged my thinking and assumptions in some way and brought me to a new understanding of the material and of myself.

What's your dream job?

Director of a summer camp and year-round programming organization for trans youth and their families

What do you like to do when you're not working on changing the world?

I love acting and singing onstage with local theatre companies, hiking with my dog, and settling down with a good book.
